21.07.2006 Pod1 redesign for innovative Ukash payment system.

Pod1 has been just been awarded the contract to redesign the website for online payment company Ukash. Ukash offers a revolutionary new way of paying in cash for transactions either on the internet or over the phone. Set up by Scott Thompson, the man behind the ‘Switch' card system, Ukash is designed for those who do not want to use a credit or debit card online or don't have access to one. The system works in a similar way to a prepay mobile phone, with the customer able to purchase Ukash vouchers from a wide range of stores where mobile phone top-ups are currently available. The vouchers contain a secure 19-digit code, which users simply enter during the checkout process on any website supporting the Ukash payment method. Ukash then authorises the payment in real time and any change owed by the merchant is supplied to the customer via a new authenticated 19-digit voucher. Users are then able to consolidate these vouchers into a single voucher on the Ukash website. Pod1's brief is to focus on redesigning the current website, using the existing brand style, in order to provide a more streamlined user environment for potential customers, existing customers and merchants. This interface will provide ‘one-click' access to the site's information. It will also be important to maintain the brand's position as a secure, trusted and innovative offering. The project will provide centralised management of the content, brand and core communications, while also being capable of customisation for different languages with predefined content areas. An e-Newsletter function is also required that can be adapted for each territory, which means any launch for a new country can be deployed with the minimal amount of additional work and therefore cost. In all, this should be an exciting project for an exciting and innovative brand.
