05.03.2007 Site for hairdressers' set to cut through

Pod1 has worked with Reed Business Information, the publishing company, on a stunning new website for Hairdresser's Journal International, also known as HJi. The site lets visitors communicate and interact within a stylish, eye-catching online space through Web 2.0 devices such as real-time seminars, blogs and community profiling.

With its high-end design and interactive elements, Hji.co.uk now reflects the innovative and image-conscious environment of today's hairdresser. It will attract everyone from assistants and stylists to leaders within the industry as well as, and crucially, business owners and advertisers. The site, which includes training pages, latest techniques, careers and news is set to become an essential online read for serious hairdressing professionals.

HJi is a weekly title published by RBI. It's been in existence for 124 years and is the number one publication in its field. It has a weekly readership of 58,000 and the new website aims to extend its reach beyond this current audience. RBI, publishing titles from Travel Weekly to Caterer & Hotelkeeper (to name just two of more than 100 publications), is the B2B division of Reed Elsevier. Pod1 was appointed as RBI's digital partner to supply all design and front-end for the site specifically because of the agency's design skills and credibility with design-led brands. Pod1 also works alongside an in-house RBI team on technical development and information architecture.

Jayne Lewis-Orr, HJi Editor-in-Chief said, ‘We're in a highly visual market where style and image is everything, so the design of the site is of paramount importance. We're confident it will become the online community for the hairdressing industry worldwide.
